Bereavement Ministry

The Bereavement Ministry provides meals to families who have lost a family member. Following the funeral service, the family is served a hot meal in our fellowship hall. Members of the Bereavement Committee volunteer to cook the food, deliver it to church, and and/or serve the meal to the family to show our love and concern during these difficult times.

Deaconate

Our Deacon Board is the basis of family ministry at Monument Heights Baptist Church. The members of this group make hospital visits and keep in touch with our active church family in a variety of ways, such as sending cards, calling, and/or visiting. Their goal is to help families in difficult times, to celebrate joyous occasions with families, and to remind them of how important each family is at MHBC.

English as a Second Language School

Our ESL school is a ministry to our community and to Internationals throughout Richmond. The school year runs from Sept. through May. Hundreds of Internationals from more than fifty countries have attended our school to study citizenship in order to become citizens of the U.S. or to study English in order to communicate better and in some cases to open doors to employment and/or higher education. For Internationals seeking to know God better, we have an International Bible Class that meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30 A.M.

Ministry of Caring

Our Ministry of Caring provides assistance to church members as needed and/or requested. Volunteers, who comprise this group, perform such services as calling elderly church members who live alone to check on them daily, driving people to doctor's appointments, and doing other helpful chores.

Tape Ministry

The Tape Ministry provides audio CDs to church members who are homebound or live in assisted living communities on a temporary or permanent basis. CDs, made by the Media Committee, are delivered during the week they are made. Usually, the team members also enjoy a short visit with the recipients of the CDs.
